Helen Petersen Obituary
Helen Petersen the oldest of seven children, at 103 years old passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025. Born on September 10, 1922 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. She received a B.S. in Nursing, moved to the U.S. in 1947 and married George R. Peterson in 1954. They had one child Chris, and then in 1959 adopted a boy, Bryan, and a girl in 1960, Marie. She was preceded in death by her husband George (passed in 1991), and daughter Marie (passed in 2013). Helen is survived by her two sons Chris (70) and Bryan (66).
Nursing was Helen's life, she loved being a nurse and helping people. She continued to do so long after retirement. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, and traveling on cruise ships.
Helen was a devout Catholic and practiced her faith with conviction daily.
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025 a Viewing will be held from 4:00 – 7:00PM with a Rosary recitation at 6pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E Indian School Road, Phoenix. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 9th at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 740 E Baseline Road, Phoenix. Burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N 48th Street, Phoenix.
