Helen Lucille Robertson Player, 94, of Saluda, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025. Born in Saluda County, Helen was the daughter of the late Johnie and Ella Pauline Edwards Robertson. She retired from DuPont, where she was a lab technician. A devoted member of Richland Springs Baptist Church, Helen served faithfully as a GA teacher and sang in the choir for many years. She had a deep love for music, gardening, and especially her flowers.
Above all, Helen’s greatest love was for the Lord, her family, and her many friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Vonnie Yarborough Leaphart; daughter-in-law, Susan Yarborough; and brother, Stevie Robertson. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Rhonda Yarborough Edwards (Steven), Angela Yarborough, Brian Yarborough (Summer), Marci Arant (Chad), and Maggie Leaphart; great-grandchildren: Mason, Ryanne (Zach), CJ, Brady, Mia, Matt, Drew, and Wynn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special family members, Teresa Griffin, Jenny Lynn Livingston, Holly Yarborough, Michael Yarborough, Mark Yarborough, and Linda Yarborough Broome; and by stepchildren, Danny Player (Kym McLaughlin) and Sam Player (Thereis); and step grandchildren, Robbie Player, Matt Player and Trevor Ward. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Player; son, Rick Yarborough; granddaughter, Lindsey Erin; step-daughter, Marie Ward; and three siblings, Randolph Robertson, Sara Powell, and Marie Perry.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19th at Hurt Cemetery with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Saluda Nursing Home for their exceptional care and compassion. A special thank you is also extended to Vonnie’s lifelong friends, Judy Young and Linda Kirkland, for their unwavering love and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saluda Nursing Home, 581 Newberry Highway, Saluda, SC 29138.
