It is with profound sadness, but with a heart full of loving memories, that we announce the passing of Helen C. Plummer, lovingly known as Mama, Mamasita, and HP, on September 12, 2024. Born in Luling, Texas on December 16, 1943, Helen lived a life filled with joy, love, and an unparalleled dedication to her loved ones.
Helen was a spirited and generous soul, her life was a testament to her generosity, and her infectious spirit was felt by all who knew her. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting her family before herself. She was witty, always speaking her mind, and was known for her fervent support of the underdog. A member of St Peter's United Methodist Church since her youth, Helen's faith was a beacon that guided her throughout her life. As 1 Corinthians 16:14 teaches, she did everything in love, and that love shone in all her endeavors.
Helen's passion for cooking led her to a successful career as a restaurant manager and owner, with several establishments around Austin. Her love for feeding people was renowned, her culinary skills bringing joy to everyone who tasted her cooking. In her leisure time, Helen was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Spurs fan, her spirit undimmed even when her health declined. She found solace in gospel music, her television stories, reading, and shopping from the comfort of her home.
Helen is survived by her children Tonda (Anthony) Brown, Edward (Rene) Jr, Dee (Joe) Plummer, Darwin (Tammy) Plummer, Stacy (Bobby) Gant, Cedric (Tricia) Plummer, and Sherman Plummer. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Ora Morris and Carolyn Berry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Bell Sr. and Daisy Bell, her beloved spouse Edward (Gene) Plummer, her brother Ernest Bell Jr., and sister Loraine Fowler.
As we remember Helen, we are reminded of her unwavering dedication, her generous spirit, and her witty charm. She was a beacon in our lives, and her light will continue to shine in our hearts forever. Please consider sharing your memories and photographs of Helen on her memorial page. This will not only be a comfort to her family, but also a celebration of a spirited and generous life well-lived.
