Helen M. True, age 76, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, September 16, 2024, at Ambassador Health Care.
Born August 21, 1948, in Munising, Michigan, to Victor and Mildred (Sidbeck) True, She was a 1966 graduate of the Wm. G. Mather High School in Munising and retired from the Indiana State Board of Health in August of 2014 after 25 years of service. Helen attended First English Lutheran Church. She was a hardworking leader of the family and instilled strong work ethics, love and the value of family time with her children. Helen continued that love with her grandchildren and great-grandsons, spending time with family nearly every day. Helen was able to go on her dream trip in 2023 - a cruise to Alaska to see the whales in person
Survivors include her daughters, Roxanne (Brian) Steele, of Richmond, Indiana, and Nikki (James II) Reid, of New Whiteland, Indiana; grandchildren, Mariah (Korey) Creech, Sara (Chad) Calderone, Nathan Steele, James (Ashton) O'Connell, Josh (Heaven Hood) Reid, and Hollyanne Reid; great grandchildren, Miles and Grant Creech; brother, Tom (Jonnie) True; sister-in-law Margie True; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Rachel Steele; brothers, Victor and Carl (Audra) True, grandparents; and many others.
Services were held in Indiana, but local services will take place at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, October 25, 2024. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
