Helen Agnes Williams

Helen Agnes Williams, 92 of Clinton Township, MI passed away Friday, August 11, 2023. Born June 18,1931 in Detroit, MI she was the daughter of James and Bridget (Houlihan) Curran. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Pelcher and her beloved husband Merrill Alfred Williams of 69 years. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Dewitt, her children MaryBeth Murz and husband Leonard, Steve Williams and wife Cindy, MegAnn Owens and her six devoted grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Helen attended Mercy College of Detroit. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors and graduated June 6, 1953. She was awarded a scholarship from Park-Davis and was also the President of the Chemistry Club. Also, Helen was selected to appear in the 1953 edition of Who's Who among Students in American Universities from Mercy College. Helen worked for many years as a Medical Technologist in the Outpatient Lab at St. John's hospital in Detroit. She maintained her certification as a Medical Technologist with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists until 1980.
Helen often spoke fondly of her years raising her family. She drove her kids, and sometimes the neighbor kids to all their activities and team sports. Helen was also very involved in all their activities and school events. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Parent Volunteer and a loving Mother and Grandmother.
Helen was an avid and expert seamstress. Cross stitch and needlepoint was a favorite. Helen also was a highly skilled quilter. She was an active member of the Oakland County Quilting Guild. Her beautifully designed quilts earned many awards. She made many beautiful, hand stitched quilts that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will cherish. Helen aka Bugga and Grandma loved seeing her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always interested in what they were doing, the sports and activities they participated in; and was especially interested in what they were studying.
Also, Helen was very proud of her second career as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, traveling around southeast Michigan educating healthcare professionals and participating in industry conferences. Helen's job as a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep. provided perks such as a trip to Switzerland and sales awards that included her beloved fur coat. Fun travel memories included Banff, Canada and Ireland. Helen will be greatly missed and remembered by family and friends and as always for saying "You look great".
