Henry “Joe” Boatman, Jr., age 74, of Pearcy, died, Sunday, July 27, 2003.

He was born at Crystal Springs, Arkansas on November 24, 1928, the son of Henry Allen Boatman, Sr. and Cecil Smith. His parents and one sister, Opal McKee, preceded him in death. He was married to Evelyn Louise Boethel on September 13, 1978.

He was of Baptist faith and retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after thirty years.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Boatman of Pearcy; one son, Willard of Shreveport, Louisiana; five daughters, Carla and Vickie both of Little Rock, Linda of Indiana, Bridgette of Shreveport, Louisiana and Cindy of Houston, Texas; three step-sons, Billy of Roanoke, Virginia, John of Willis, Texas and James of New Braunfels, Texas; one step-daughter, Carolyn of Deer Park, Texas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Euell Boatman of Avon, Indiana and Marvin Boatman of Hot Springs; two sisters, Vera Witcher of Benton and Vivian Houlton of Hot Springs; nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 29, 2003 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Bro. Lynn Baxter officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be Michael Krell, Grant Howard, Aubrey Witcher, James Bell, John Bell, Jr., and Terry Krell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Reed and Herman Bates.
