Henry S. Bunch, age 88, went Home to Heaven on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in his home in Cincinnati surrounded by loved ones.
Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue Jackson Bunch, his mother and father, Paris and Lyda Vaughn Bunch, all six of his siblings, Elizabeth, Ella Faye, Clara June, Tootie, Thomas, Beaulah Mae, and his dear friends, "Old Man Jack" and Mr Ed.
Henry, a United States Army Veteran, served in the Korean War and in Germany. After an honorable discharge, he moved to Cincinnati where he worked for 45 years, seeing the country from the railroad, as an engineer for CSX. After retirement, he and his bride traveled to see the world together visiting beaches and the American West.
Henry remains a cherished pillar in his Cincinnati community. Henry was a good man...a really good one, both humble and simple. He loved people. He was the "Mr Rogers" of his neighborhood where his absence has left a gaping hole. Henry would repeatedly check his watch each weekday afternoon to make sure he was on the porch in time to wave to the school bus passing by. He built lasting relationships with neighbors, their kids, their dogs, and any stranger he greeted on the sidewalk calling out from his chair on the porch. Henry's jolly smile and friendly spirit made him new friends on each stop at the grocery store or Frisch's Big Boy and he never forgot the people he met or their story. People loved Henry Bunch. A true Cincinnatian, he loved his Skyline 3-way except when the Bengals won and earned him a free one at Gold Star.
Per Henry's request, a private family service was held July 14. Interment at Corinth Cemetery beside his Sue.
