Henry "Hank" Allen Evans, 87, of Jackson Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Born on September 30, 1937, in Paintsville, Kentucky, Henry was the son of Henry and Helen Evans. He graduated from Paintsville High School in 1955 and later attended Morehead State University. At the age of 19, he moved to Canton, Ohio, where he began a lifelong career with Ashland Oil Refinery.
A proud Appalachian, Henry lived by the values of hard work, humility, and simple living. He had a deep and enduring faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ, and a profound love for his country. He enjoyed the quiet pleasures of life - fishing on the lake, playing golf, and savoring his wife's home cooking. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Lavonne Evans; his son, Thadd Fowler Evans; his granddaughter, Emily Joy Lavy; his parents, Henry and Helen Evans; his mother-in-law, Eva Kopf; his sister, Myrna Loy (Phillip) Clark; brothers-in-law, Floyd Rohrer and Joe VanNostran; and sister-in-law, Judy Evans.
Henry is lovingly remembered by his children, Mindi (Les) Mitson, Hank (Denise) Evans, and Cindy Lindeman; and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Evans. He was a proud grandfather to Marcie (Eddie) Pryor, Ben (Vanetta) Mast, Dustin (Danielle) Lindeman, Chelsea (Noah) Sanor, Cody (Katie) Lindeman, and Noah Evans. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Evie and Jack Pryor, Ella Lavy, Emerson and Hudson Lindeman, Forrest and Brooks Lindeman, Penny, Liam, and Bennett Sanor, and Alexa and Marc Mast.
He is also survived by his brother, James Evans; sisters-in-law, Darlene Rohrer and Sharee VanNostran; brother-in-law, Rick (Nancy) Kopf; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
At his request, a private remembrance will be held.
"Build me a cabin in the corner of Gloryland, in the shade of the tree of life that it may ever stand. Where I can hear the angels sing and shake Jesus' hand. Yes, build me a cabin in the corner of Gloryland."
-Hank Williams
