Henry Heidecker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jardine Funeral Home, Inc. - Strongsville on Apr. 30, 2024.
Henry "Dick" Richard Heidecker, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on March 24, 1945, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Henry W. and Eva Heidecker. He was a man who lived a full and vibrant life, leaving a legacy of love and service that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Dick was a devoted family man, celebrating 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandy Heidecker, whom he married on September 14, 1968. Together, they raised a family of four children who were the pride of his life: Sean (Adrienne) Heidecker, Chad (Michelle) Heidecker, Brett (Nancy) Heidecker, and Angelia Buckland. He was a role model to his siblings Tom (Peggy) Heidecker, Ray (Debbie) Heidecker, and Nancy (Bob-deceased) Cornell. His joy was multiplied with the arrival of each of his grandchildren: Brandon (Kim), Larry, McKenna, Jared, Kyle, Paige, Carson, Bryce, Sydney, Breanna, and Jaxson. The family circle grew even brighter with the birth of his great-grandchild, Antonio. Dick was also a beloved uncle and cousin to many, sharing his warmth and wisdom.
Dick served his country with honor as a veteran of the Navy during the Vietnam War. His dedication to service continued long after his military days. Dick was a hard worker who took great pride in his work history and community involvement. He was a pillar of the Columbia Township community, serving as a trustee and contributing his time and talents as a member of the board for Southwest General Hospital. His commitment to the safety and well-being of his neighbors was evident in his role as a volunteer fireman for Columbia Township, where he retired as the Assistant Fire Chief.
Dick's interests reflected his love for life and his community. He was a familiar face at his grandchildren's sporting events, always cheering them on with enthusiasm. His love for travel and going on long drives with Sandy brought them countless memories and stories to share. Dicks's zest for life and his dedication to his family and community were unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed.
