Brethren, we gather here today to celebrate the homecoming of a child of God, Brother Paul, who was called to his eternal rest on February 3, 2025. Born on November 19, 1944, in the vibrant city of Beaumont, Texas, Paul was a shining example of a life well-lived and well-loved. He traversed the path of life with the conviction of faith and the joy of the Lord in his heart, and today, he stands in the glory of our Savior.
He is proceeded in death by his Father, Harold J Heidecker and his mother, Juanita E Heidecker.
He is survived by his wife, Scarlett Heidecker his daughters Kelli Heidecker and Kimberly (Mark) Simpson. His three stepsons, which he thought of as his own, Tyron (Vickie) Schmidt, Daniel (Katy) Schmidt and John (Roxanna) Schmidt, multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was a proud graduate of Lamar University, where he honed his sharp mind and received his Bachelor's degree in Business. His education was the foundation upon which he built a successful career in sales, touching lives and making friends at every turn. A veteran of the United States Army, Paul served his country with honor and dignity, embodying the spirit of service that would define his days.
As we reflect upon the life of Brother Paul, we remember a man whose love for the game of golf was matched only by his skill. He graced the greens alongside legends such as Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino, competing with grace and sportsmanship. Off the course, Paul's adventurous spirit shone brightly. He was a man who felt the call of the open road, embracing the freedom of the wind in his face as he rode his motorcycle to destinations far and wide. In Paul's world, every stranger was a friend he hadn't met yet, and every friend was a treasure.
The words that best capture the essence of Paul are loving, funny, and gentle. He was a beacon of light and laughter, a man who could soothe a troubled heart with a kind word and uplift a weary soul with his humor. His gentle spirit was a comfort to all who knew him, and his love was a blessing that enriched our lives immeasurably.
As a man of faith, Paul lived by the words of the Apostle Paul, who wrote in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me." This verse was not just a quote to our dear friend; it was a creed by which he lived every day. It gave him the strength to face life's challenges with courage and to embrace its joys with gratitude.
In
Corpus Christi, Texas, where Paul's final chapter on this earth was written, we take solace in knowing that he has now joined the heavenly choir. Let us not grieve as those without hope but let us celebrate the life of a man who walked among us as a living testament to God's love and grace.
Brother Paul's journey through this life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of faith, and the beauty of friendship. As we bid him farewell, we do so with the assurance that he has found peace in the arms of our Lord. Let us carry forward the light that Paul shone in our lives, sharing his love, his humor, and his gentle spirit with the world.
And so, as we commend Paul to the Almighty, we do so with hearts full of love and memories cherished. We will miss his laughter, his stories, and his unwavering kindness. Yet, we rejoice in the knowledge that he has run the race, he has finished the course, and he now rests in the eternal peace promised to all of God's children.
Rest well, Brother Paul. Your legacy lives on in the hearts you've touched, the lives you've changed, and the joy you've spread. Until we meet again on that glorious shore, we hold you in our hearts, forever grateful for the gift of your presence in our lives. Amen.
