Henry Mangold Stewart, Jr., age 70, resident of Coweta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Tulsa, OK. He was born on July 23, 1955, in Pittsburgh, PA, to parents, Henry Mangold Stewart, Sr., and Ruth Lois (Lowry) Stewart. Henry was a man whose warm spirit and generous heart left an enduring mark on the lives of those he encountered.
Henry's early life was marked by a proud service to his country; after high school, he joined the Navy and served with distinction. His post-military life saw him pursuing his passion for carpentry until an injury took him down a different path. Yet, he tackled this challenge with the same resilience and grace that characterized all his endeavors.
Henry took pleasure in the simple things. He savored the moments spent fishing in Florida with his son, losing himself in the tranquility of nature. A fan of TV sci-fi, he found joy and wonder in other worlds and adventures. Yet, despite his many interests, it was his animals and family that remained the true center of his universe, next to Pepsi Cola. He never left home without his cooler of Pepsi and was always willing to share with others.
Throughout life, Henry was known for his laid-back demeanor, compassionate heart, and friendly nature that allowed him to make friends wherever he went. His three cherished dogs, Pepsi, Blue, and Phoebe, and his cat Precious weren't merely pets; they were his companions, his family. Around town, he was a familiar sight, seen taking leisurely walks with his dogs.
Known affectionately as "Pap-Pap," he shared a special bond with Matthew and Timothy, reveling in the joy of teaching his grandsons to shoot a BB gun or play cars with them. Each time he visited he gave the boys a gold dollar coin. Collectively now the coins represent a symbol of love from him. His family was his world, and he never ended a conversation without expressing his love for them.
Henry's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved son, Joshua Stewart and wife, Kim of Broken Arrow, OK, his adored grandsons, Matthew Stewart and Timothy Stewart, his brother Doug Stewart and wife Angela of Palm Beach, FL. He will also be fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law's parents, Dennis Whitworth and wife Beverly, and her brother Michael Whitworth and wife Sherri.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John Stewart.
Henry's legacy is one of compassion, friendship, and an enduring love that transcends time. He will be dearly missed.
Henry will be laid to rest at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK.
