Henry C. Whiteside

TUPELO – Henry C. Whiteside aged 73 departed from his earthly pilgrimage on August 8, 2024, at NMMC in Tupelo after a period of declining health. He was born on November 29, 1950, in Tupelo to Lucian Whiteside and Maudine Nichols Whiteside. Henry spent his life as a proud resident of Lee County. A self-employed mechanic, Henry had a deep passion for working on older cars, finding immense satisfaction in fixing automobiles that needed repair. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed fishing.
A service celebrating Henry's life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 16, 2024, in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors, with Pastor Kenneth Miller (MDiv) of the Beebe Memorial Cathedral in Oakland, CA will be delivering the eulogy. His burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Dorsey, MS. The visitation is scheduled from 4 PM to 6 PM on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Holland-Tupelo Chapel. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends during this time. Henry is survived by his three daughters, Jackie Whiteside, Peggy Cayson, and Santana Young, all of the Tupelo area; his siblings, Willie Whiteside, who was his caretaker, Lawrence Whiteside (Willie Celes), Lizzy Whiteside, Joenation Whiteside (Jessie Louise), and Minnie Tucker; as well as several grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian and Maudine Whiteside.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the outpouring of support shown through calls, visits, texts and most of all your unwavering prayers. A special thank you to Dr. Tan and his nurses at Tupelo Cancer Center and North Mississippi Medical Center. Words will never be sufficient for their unconditional love and support.
