Herb "Herby" Lewis Templeton, 94, of Anderson passed away on July 27, 2024. Herb was born on August 20, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Herbert and Edythe (Stiner) Templeton. After graduating from Anderson High School, Herb went on to attend Ball State University where he received his master's degree. He was drafted into the United States Army and faithfully served our country in the European Command during the Korean Conflict. Once he was honorably discharged, he began working for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools as a Principal and Administrator. He worked primarily in Germany, but also in Italy and France, from 1956 until his retirement in 1985. Herb met his loving wife, Ingrid Ebert, while he was in Germany and the two were married for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Fellowship Lodge #681. Herb loved clocks, taking care of his pool and home, reading and smoking meats. He was meticulous about his lawn and garden and loved to ring his bell in his belltower at noon on the dot. He loved cars, especially Porsches, Mercedes Benz, and race cars, and he had his pilot's license. Herb loved history and psychology; he was an extremely intelligent and charismatic man. People were drawn to Herb, he never met a stranger and was a gifted story teller.
Herb will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Ingrid; brother, Thomas (Virginia) Templeton; nephew, Gregory (Helen) Templeton; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Paul (Maelyn) Ebert and family; and dear family friends, Cory, Brandi, Logan, and Whitney Parker.
