Herbert Rodrick Allen, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Miriam Lawrimore Allen entered into eternal rest Friday, December 12, 2025. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 15, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends an hour before the service starting at 10:00 am.
Herbert was born on September 23, 1940, in Conway, SC, to the late Herbert M. Allen and Flossie Richardson Allen. As the Owner and Founder of H.R. Allen, Inc., Herbert built not only a successful business but also a reputation for integrity and dedication. His accomplishments were underscored by his education as the first in his family to graduate from college, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1962.
Herbert was a man of faith, attending Trinity Church in Pinopolis, South Carolina. He was also a proud veteran, serving in the United States Army Reserve for 30 years, where he retired as a Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Lawrimore Allen, and their two sons: Gregory Scott Allen (Elizabeth) of Charleston, Roddy Allen (Margaret) of Sullivan's Island, SC, and his four cherished grandchildren: Bailey Werber (Steven), Anna Rhett Allen, Thomas Scott Allen, and Sarah Elizabeth Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margie Allen Hancock.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Church, 1915 Pinopolis Rd, Pinopolis, SC 29469.
