Herbert Balser Obituary
Herb was born on August 11, 1947, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Lester and Edna (McKinney) Balser.
On June 20, 1971, Herb married Phyllis Whitlock, and she preceded him in death on October 23, 2004. He married Donna Womble on December 20, 2005 in Lafayette, and she survives.
Herb worked as a route manager for Waste Management for 34 years prior to his retirement. Herb was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp and fought in the Vietnam War. Herb enjoyed bowling and watching all sporting events.
Surviving Herb are his children, Buddy (Ashley) Balser and Melissa Balser (companion, Kris Sipple) both of Lafayette, and Sonya Balser; stepdaughter, Jessica Walters; sisters, Barbara (Larry) Gerken and Diana Bowman both of Lancaster, OH; brothers, Dwayne Balser and Stanley Balser both of Lafayette; and his most beloved grandson, Ryan Balser. Herb is also survived by nine grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Herb is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and five brothers.
A visitation will be held at Hippensteel Funeral Home on Friday, November 21st from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 10 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by Brother Mike Jones. Herb will then be laid to rest with military funeral honors at Spring Vale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Im so sorry for your loss, I did not find out till it was too late to show up to show my respect, We lost dad on Oct 30th. I cherish all my memories with Herb and Phyllis, Melissa, Sonja and Buddy. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!!
