Our dad "Big Herbert" was made whole Monday when he took his last breath here on earth and now sits at the feet of our Savior!
He was a one-of-a-kind and left us so many things that only a dad can teach you. He leaves behind a legacy of Love.
Our dad taught us that every person is important and has value.
We had some amazing times together and some of the bests were when we were out on the island, shrimp boat, floundering or just simply on the bay with a pole in our hands – even when we were not catching a thing; just enjoying each other's presence and tranquility of the bay.
Dad may have not of heard well but could see the birds' miles away. He would spot them and away we would go, chasing the trout.
Our dad was a second father to many. friends would love to spend time with us and often want to know if dad was coming out with us. Dad loved telling stories and enjoyed his friendships. He loved his grandkids and great grandchildren. You could see the beam in his blue eyes shining when the kiddos where around, being a big kid at heart he was.
He was a hardworking man, smart, tough at times, loving and knower of all things. Our father could fix almost anything and passed his knowledge down to us three kids. I know our dad was proud of us all.
Dad never told us how to live, he lived and let us watch him do it.
Every mans life ends. It's only the details of how he lived that distinguish one man from another. The heart of our dad is a masterpiece of Love.
I know the Lord will comfort us daily with thoughts of the life our dad has lived, a life worthy of emulation.
I believe above all things that you are in the Lord's bosom, and I only ask for you to watch over your family and friends. Your love and guidance will always be with us. Time passes and memories remain.
Dad, you left this world behind, but in our hearts you will always shine. Our love for you will never die.
