Herbert "Pops" Mullins

Herbert Mullins, age 80, of Coker, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel. Jimmy Sloan will be officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Mullins; ex-wife, Connie Mullins; and his parents, Earl and Ocie Mullins.
Herbert is survived his daughters, Theresa Ballard, Christina Pritchett, and Stacey Foster; sons, Logan Mark Mullins and John Mullins; sisters, Evelyn Harris and Arlene Sharpe; brothers, Douglas Mullins and Henry Mullins; grandchildren, Renee, Brandon, Amanda, Cindy, Tiffany, Patricia, Logan, Luke, Erica, Nate, Austin, and Savannah; 14 great grandchildren; and his Celebrate Recovery family.
Herbert "Pop's" Mullins was a faithful child of God. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, self-driven hard worker, and trusted friend. Herbert began his life in West Virginia. After marrying Mollie, they moved through various parts of Ohio, finally settling in Alabama with their family. This man wore many hats: farm hand, logger quarry worker, husband, father, granddaddy, great granddaddy, rubber factory worker, appliance repair man, and small business owner (construction). Pops took great pride in his work, knowing there was nothing he could not fix. Herbert was almost always working but always made time to serve the Lord and love on his family. He always had a dog and tolerated cats from a distance. He enjoyed watching westerns, wrestling in the floor with the young ones. If he had extra time, he'd find a place to drop a line and fish.
In his later years, Pops got heavily involved in Celebrate Recovery, where he literally saved several lives by using the gifts God gave him: love, patience, encouragement, kindness, understanding and wisdom. Herbert shared God's love with everyone he met.
