Herman was born March 18, 1954 to Emily Mae Harper, in Dinwiddie County, VA, was a graduate of Dinwiddie County High School and served Honorably in the US Coast Guard for 4 years, receiving the Pistol Marksman Award and Good Conduct Medal and a Unit Commendation.
Throughout his life, Herman held varied employments, a jack of all trades, from exterminator to groundskeeper at Pamplin Park.
In his retirement, Herman enjoyed gardening, landscaping and fishing; once receiving a plaque for catching the biggest Blueline Tilefish (15 lbs, 8 oz) in Norfolk Canyon, 2011. He loved to sh*t talk and favored those who reciprocated.
Herman is survived by his sister Kathy Harper-Colyer, her child and grandchildren and his brother Dale Harper (Vickie); their children and grandchildren; aunts, uncles, a plethora of nieces, nephews, long time friend of 50 years, Vanessa Moss and many more, too numerous to list.
