Herman graduated from Washington High School with a scholarship from LSU in which he graduated with a degree in Agriculture. After teaching for a few years in Lafourche parish, Herman earned a master’s degree from UL in Education. He then went on to teach in St. Landry and Lafayette Parishes for the remainder of his career.
Herman’s love for agriculture showed throughout his life and he always had a garden or even multiple gardens planted at any given time. The many trees and shrubs planted throughout the years on his property was always evident.
Family get-togethers with bar-b-ques on a Sunday afternoon were common, of course with Elvis always playing in the background. His later years were enjoyed with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved visiting with them and sharing personal experiences.
The family would like to thank Courtyard Assisted Living & Retirement Home for all they did for Herman over the last several years. Also, a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for their caring assistance.
He survives his sons, Paul Lanclos (Monette) of Opelousas, La. and Daryl Lanclos (Nancy) of Lafayette, La.; his daughter, Charlette Albarado (Charlie) of Scott, La.; his brother, Moise Lanclos, Jr. (Sheila) of Opelousas, La. and his sister, Maggie Savoie (Lincoln) of Sunset, La. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
