Mr. McCalvin was born in Miller County on February 14, 1932, the youngest son of John Thomas and Leola Long McCalvin. He served his country in the US Army from 1953-1955, and retired from Bainbridge Mills in 1993. His passion was centered around horses. He loved to raise, train, and ride. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 68 years, Sara Pickren McCalvin; his daughter, Liz Lovering; his son, Tommy McCalvin; and grandson, Eric Lovering, all of Colquitt, GA; as well as his granddaughter, Anna Grace McCalvin of Statesville, NC. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Dorothy Givens of Donalsonville, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McCalvin was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Leola Long McCalvin; his oldest son, Sammy McCalvin; one brother, John Roy McCalvin; and five sisters, Fannie Mae Evans, Eunice Williams, Myrtle Chandler, Irene Chandler, and Lillian Smith.
