Herman Taliferro Quick III

Herman Taliferro Quick, III was born on September 9th, 1968 in Lexington County, South Carolina to Sylvia Jeanette Baston Quick and the late Herman Quick, Jr. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023.
At an early age, he joined the Friendship Baptist Church in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina where he built his strong Christian foundation by participating in Sunday school. Being raised in a family of gospel singers, he discovered his love for music at a young age singing in the church youth choir. He also shared the song in his heart and soul as a member of both the chorus and marching band at Batesburg Leesville High. He also played the lead guitar for the sensational family gospel group Little Desi and the Sons of Faith.
After earning his high school diploma, he served our country as a proud member of the United States Army Reserve. His legacy of service with honor and integrity earned him several military commendations including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Army Lapel Button.
Upon completion of his military service, he entered the field of customer service where he shined as brilliantly as his Army medals. As an employee at Blue Cross and Blue Shield he was routinely recognized for his exemplary customer service, excellent effectiveness as a team player, and genuine love for helping others. He continued to spread this love as he assisted countless customers in achieving the American Dream of homeownership as a Regional Assistance Sales Manager for Fleet Mortgage.
Always dedicated to growing and pursuing new challenges, he was awarded student of the year from Florence-Darlington Technical College in 2006 and in 2010, he earned his bachelor's degree from South University.
Herman T. won the hearts of his family and friends with his quick wit, infectious laugh, and charming smile. Throughout his life he was a bright light that shared his huge heart and bold, bodacious personality. He loved gospel music and could often be found listening to some of his favorite "old school" artist, The Swannie Quintet (Percy), Tommie Ellison and the Five Blind Boys.
Herman loved sports; as a member of the Leesville Golden Eagles, he was a baseball standout and earned the beloved nickname "Slime Time", he also enjoyed refereeing High School Basketball. On any given Sunday after church service, you could find Herman cheering on his favorite football team the Denver Broncos, decked out from head to toe in team colors and gear. His smile, his inviting eyes, his warm humor, his grand presence, his infectious vivacity left an unforgettable imprint upon the hearts and minds of every person he met-truly unforgettable.
He was preceded in death by this father, Herman Quick, Jr.; a nephew, Ra'Jae Quick; paternal grandparents, Herman Sr. and Clara Quick; maternal grandparents, Reverend Booker T. Sr. and Dora Baston.
He is survived by his wife, Nikena Quick; children, Nakalah, Briana and Brian Sparks; Tandrea Stroman and D'Juan Morgan of Columbia, South Carolina; mother, Sylvia J. Quick (Bennie); brothers, Corwin Quick of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Andrea M. Quick (Ericka) of White Plains, Maryland, Desmond R. Quick, Columbia, South Carolina; aunts, Mrs. Ollie McLaughlin of Raeford, North Carolina, Deborah Quick of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Willer Rene (Willie) Glover of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, Doris (Matthew) Golson of Salley, South Carolina, Berlinda Baston, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Hilda (Edwin) Guess of Columbia, South Carolina; nieces, Lakesha J. Quick of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Aria & Zoey Quick, both of Columbia, South Carolina; nephews, Caleb & Joshua Quick, both of White Plains, Maryland, and Noah Quick of Columbia, South Carolina and a host of other cousins, relatives and sorrowing friends.
