Herman Blaine Sheckler, age 76, of St. Paul, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (August 26, 2025) at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born October 23, 1948 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late William Herman and Mary Duty Sheckler. He spent his early life in Buchanan, Dickenson and Russell counties and had resided in St. Paul during his later years of life. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, having been stationed in Germany. He ended his active-duty service in 1970 and then joined the Army Reserves for a short period before he returned to Council High School to complete his education. He had been employed as a coal miner for Island Creek Coal Company for over twenty years. He was a dedicated supporter of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and he enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, hiking and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Goble and Inez Sheckler; brothers, Terry Sheckler and Johnny Sheckler and one infant sibling.

Survivors include three children, Herman Blaine Sheckler, Jr. of Bristol, Tennessee and Selenia M. Meade and Jessica D. Sheckler both of Tazewell, Virginia; grandchildren, Nicklos Sheckler, Landon Sheckler, Zoee M. Meade, Isaac S. Meade and Avianna Sheckler; one sister, Sue Woods; great-grandson, Graydon Sheckler.

There will be no services conducted at this time.
