Mr. Herman Sumner, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Hazlehurst Court and Rehab. Mr. Sumner was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County, a retired truck driver, and a United States Navy Veteran. He was a member of Dunn Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for more than thirty-three years. Mr. Herman was a fan of westerns, later becoming an avid lover of game shows. Preceding him in death is his wife, Ingoll Faye Sumner; brothers, Gerald Sumner and Ferrell Sumner; and parents, Marvin and Myrtle Sumner. Survivors include his sons, James Michael Sumner and wife Aimee, and Gregory Scott Sumner and wife Anna; grandsons, Justin Michael Sumner and wife Whitney, and Joshua Miles Sumner and wife Ashley; great-granddaughter, Tara Lain Sumner; brother, Dale Sumner and wife Ann, and other family members also survive. A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. from Dunn Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Brown, and Reverend Ryan Clements officiating. Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel. Active Pallbearers are Justin Sumner, Joshua Sumner, Junior Johnson, Hal Ussery, Corey Griffin, and Lloyd Beecher. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of Dunn Memorial Baptist Church. The staff of Nobles Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Herman Sumner.
