Herman was born July 2, 1941, in Kingfisher, OK, the son of Emory Lawrence and Florence Marie (Bicksler) White. He attended school in Tahlequah, where he enjoyed playing football at Tahlequah High School. He was a member of the Army National Guard of Oklahoma, where he retired after many years of service. Herman worked at the Pawhuska Golf and Country Club as the greenskeeper until his retirement. For many years, Herman, along with other family members, could be seen around Pawhuska helping numerous residents by mowing, hauling, cleaning and even hanging Christmas decorations. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Herman is survived by his brothers Danny White and Jackie White; nieces Katrina Weese, Christine White and Frances White; nephew Thomas White; great nephew Jimmy White (wife Erin); along with other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Donald White; and brother Jimmy C. White.
