Hershel A. Albert, Jr. Jr.

Hershel A. Albert, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday July 4, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Born on November 7, 1943 in Island Falls Maine, he was the son of the late Hershel Albert Sr. and Eleanor (McDonald) Albert.

Hershel, known as "Al" by many. spent the majority of his career serving with pride in the Maine National Guard, many years of mechanic work and ending his career retiring at BIW in Bath.

He was predeceased by his second wife, Pamela Jean (York) Albert.

He is survived by his son, Jeff Albert and his wife Rhonda of Gardiner; his daughters, Wendy Lounsbury and her husband Robert of Augusta, and Cindy Austin and her husband Travis of South Gardiner. He is also survived by his three sisters: Teddy Morin of North Whitefield, Camilla McKinney of Cape Elizabeth, and Julia Perron of Topsham. Al was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren-Andrea Chavonelle, Alexx Albert, Tyler Lounsbury, Jordanne Lounsbury, Trevor Austin, and Cameron Austin-and a beloved great-grandfather to Selah Knapp, Tanner Austin, Carter Austin, and Josie Rollins. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Al was a man who found joy in the simple, meaningful moments-especially those spent in nature. He had a deep love for the outdoors and was most at peace when camping, four-wheeling, exploring the back roads of Jackman on bird hunts, or casting a line in his favorite fishing spots. Whether on a trail or by the water, what mattered most to him was sharing those moments with family and friends.

There will be a brief grave side service on Thursday July 17, 2025 @9:00 am held at the old Veterans Cemetery

A celebration of life will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 109 Spring St. Gardiner, Thursday July 17th at 11:00am open to everyone who would like to celebrate his life with us.
