Hester Roberts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory - Huntsville on Jan. 4, 2024.
Hester Viola Roberts, 99, of Huntsville; passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at home. She was born Tuesday, September 16, 1924, in Huntsville; to Burse Lease and Jewell Lacey Montgomery.
Hester married Howard Parker Roberts on December 21, 1942, and together they were parents to three children. She was a homemaker and a Christian. Known for her unwavering work ethic, Hester's green thumb flourished in the garden, where she delighted in cultivating succulent strawberries and vibrant tomatoes. She skillfully preserved vegetables through canning, and her care extended to a lively flock of chickens, embodying the spirit of a true "Pioneer Woman." Hester excelled at the art of quilting and embroidery and found joy in playing spirited games of dominoes with family and friends.
Above all, Hester's heart overflowed with love for her family, a sentiment that defined her existence. In every endeavor, whether in the kitchen, the garden, or the creating quilts, her love was palpable, creating a tapestry of warmth and connection that bound the Roberts family together.
Hester was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Roberts; one daughter, Barbara Faddis; her parents, Burse and Jewell Montgomery; one grandson, James Hopper; and one sister, Freeda Miller. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ruth Roberts of Huntsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Don Pinkley, of Huntsville; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, eighteen great-great-grandchildren, and one niece.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Friday, January 5, 2024, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM, with Sam Owens officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Pierce, Doug Brooks, Donald Pinkley, Mike Pinkley, Terry Roberts, and Joe Cornelison. Interment will immediately follow services at Alabam Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
