Hilda M. (Santiago) Camacho, 82, of Portsmouth died on Wednesday October 2, 2024, at home with her family by her side.
She was the wife of the late Jose E. Valdivieso, and the late Domingo Camacho
Born on October 3, 1941, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Aurielo and Gloria (Colon) Santiago.
Mrs. Camacho previously worked for the New York City Board of Education for 32 years, retiring in 2004 and moving to Portsmouth in 2005 and starting teaching Kindergarten the Portsmouth Public School Department retiring in 2012. She volunteered for the foster grandparent program in Portsmouth.
Besides, she is survived by her children, Hilda T. Camacho of Warren, RI, Miguel A. Camacho of Yonkers, NYC, Jose A. Camacho of Newport, RI, Dr. Nancy M. Camacho of Bristol, RI and Gloria I. Camacho-Valle of Middletown, RI, her siblings, Gloria Schwartz of Seal Beach, CA, Kina Santiago-Ocasio of Edison, NJ, Pedro Santiago of Newport, RI, Eddie Santiago of Amsterdam, NY, and Joe Santiago of FL, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was the sister the late Maria Surita, Nora Jimenez, and her uncle Frank (Pancho) Colon
Calling hours will be held on Friday October 4, 2024, from 5-8pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday October 5, 2024, at 10:00 am, in St. Mary Church, Wood Street, Bristol, RI.
Burial will be private
