Hilda Grafals

A pilar of our family passed away on 15 Aug 2025 in Hopatcong, NJ after battling a long illness. Hilda Grafals was born to Luis Jaime Grafals Almeida and Ramona Hernandez Rivera on Oct 11th, 1952 in Puerto Rico.

Hilda leaves behind her three children Felix Canarte of Denville, Esmeralda Canarte of Hopatcong, and Edilberto Canarte of Washington She also leaves behind her sisters Aida, Laura and Alicia, grandchildren Felix, Antonio, Eddie, Mickey, Angel, Leo, Adam, Emily, Gabriel, Mia, Nicolas, Makayla and her great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her granddaughter Amanda Canarte in 1994 and grandson Elijah Edward Rodriguez in 2019 and by her brother Edwin in 2012.

Hilda single-handedly raised three children while being the main provider in our home. But what truly set her apart was her unwavering commitment to lifting others up along the way. Her life was a testament to determination, kindness, and the belief that one person can indeed make a difference. She faced every challenge with courage and dignity, teaching us to live with purpose and to dream bigger.

Hilda's legacy is one of empowerment and kindness. She believed deeply in lifting others up and made it her mission to support those around her-not just through words but through action. Her life was a testament to the power of one person to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

Those who knew Hilda will remember her zest for life. She found happiness in simple pleasures-traveling to new places, taking long scenic drives, enjoying picnics under the sun, and spending time at the beach where she felt most at peace. Her laughter was infectious, her presence comforting. She had a unique ability to connect with people-offering advice (solicited or not) that often proved invaluable-and always made others feel heard and cared for.

Among the many cherished memories are the birthday calls where she would sing "Happy Birthday" with heartfelt enthusiasm-a tradition that brought smiles year after year and will be dearly missed.

Hilda Grafals leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and inspiration. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her best and loved her most.
