Clinton/Guayanilla, Puerto Rico-Hildelina Velez, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 23, 2022. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marino Irizarry. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Maria Irizarry & Victor Ortiz; Pilar Acosta & Dean; and Luis Irizarry & Virgenmina, all of Clinton; her sister, Lillian Maldonado of Ponce, PR; six grandchildren, Victor, Cesar, and Katia Ortiz, the Acosta triplets: Deanette, Dean David, and Dean Junior Acosta; 4 great-grandchildren, Aevah, Mia, Kayla, and Kamden; her aunt Gloria Velez of PR; nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her infant grandson Dean Acosta, Jr. and her aunt Milagros Velez.
Daughter of the late Urbano & Carmen Velez, Hildelina was born, raised, and educated in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. In addition to raising her family, she enjoyed success in her professional career as an administrative assistant for the Mayor of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico for nearly forty years until retiring. A proud matriarch, she was happiest in the company of her family and will be forever remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Calling hours will be held from 6 until 8PM on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, July 28, 2022 in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com
