Hillard Cecil, Jr., 59, parted ways with this life at his home in Georgetown, Kentucky on Saturday, March 8, 2025, for an eternal life. Hillard was born on November 21, 1965 and was the proud son of Hillard Cecil, Sr. and Georgean Sellards Cecil of Stanville, Kentucky.
Hillard was a man of many titles or nicknames you might say. He was a loving husband, "Honey" to his wife Lana. He was the perfect Dad to his children, Hillary Allison "Ali" Cecil, Layla Zhan "Bug" Cecil, and his stepchildren Jonathan (Joselyn) Stump and Raimee (Adam) Botner, all of whom he adored. He held the very high title of "Pop Pop" to all of his precious grandchildren, Dayana, Ivana, Zoe, Felix, Otis, and Glen, the stealers of his heart. Hillard was known as "Buddy" to his loving siblings, Jackie (Trina) Cecil, Rusha (Larry) Miles, and Dean (Karen) Cecil, and as "Uncle Buddy" to his very special nieces, Courtney (David) Cripe, Kristen (Aaron) Horsely, and Hannah Cecil, along with his great nieces, Madeleine and Elizabeth. He was known as "Skeet" or "Skeeter" by his best friends, Marty Meade and Darrel Newsome, and his co-workers at Toyota. He had many special friends that he considered family, his TV watching companion, Linda Howell, whom he loved so dearly and called his family, and Sam and Peggy Brawner who he said loved his family as much as he did, and his Berea Christian Church family. Last but not least, his faithful canine companion "Skip" who he loved like his own children.
The name Hillard was most proud of was "son" to his heavenly father. Hillard was a Christian and a member of the Berea Christian Church in Lexington. He loved his minister and told everyone that "he's the best preacher known to man."
Hillard was a great fisherman and loved fishing with his son-in-law Adam, his longtime friend Rodger Welch, and friend and co-worker, Rick Actison. Hillard's life was a testament, always happy even in trying times. Because his faith in God was so strong, he was a witness to all.
The family will be receiving friends between 5:00 and 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Berea Christian Church, 2689 Berea Road, Lexington, Kentucky. The service honoring his life will begin at 1:00 pm at the church, with Minister Jackie Miller and Associate Minister JayDee Miller officiating the service. Burial will follow, where Hillard will be laid to rest in the Georgetown Cemetery, and Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Hillard's wishes were to donate in his memory to Berea Christian Church Youth Ministry or to the Christian Community Center, 37607 State Highway 194 East, Phelps, Kentucky 41553.
Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home has the arrangements. Condolences and memories can be expressed on Hillard's tribute wall at www.TuckerYocumWilson.com. The obituary has been lovingly written by his family.
