Honey Bee Morris

Honey Bee Morris, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in West, Texas, on January 3, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born on August 26, 1940, in Waco, Texas, to SJ and Nolia (Caddell) Curry. Honey Bee lived most of her life in Buffalo, where she built a vibrant community of family and friends who cherished her warmth and infectious spirit.

Throughout her life, Honey Bee embraced her many roles with grace and passion. She was the proud mother of six children—five boys and one girl—who brought her immense joy. She married her sweetheart, J.D. Morris, on June 1, 1956, and together they shared a remarkable journey filled with love and devotion until his passing in 2013.

Honey Bee wore many hats: a school bus driver for Leon ISD, an accomplished cook, and an eighteen-wheeler driver, all of which showcased her incredible versatility and tenacity. She spent many years as a business manager for the Buffalo Express newspaper, where her own column, Sittin Under The Oak Tree, highlighted the heartbeat of the community she loved.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Honey Bee was an ordained minister and taught the Golden Vessels Sunday School class for many years alongside her husband, J.D. Her commitment to serving others extended to her extensive volunteer work for the Lord's Pantry, where she offered compassion and support to those in need. Honey Bee also played a significant role as a board member of Hoeheim Insurance Company and managed the Dew Skelley restaurant for many years when she was younger.

Honey Bee was preceded in death by her father, SJ Curry; mother, Nolia Brasier; step-father, Dewey Brasier; husband, J.D. Morris; daughter, Darla Marie Morris, and siblings, Helen Park, Mildred West, Glenda West, Charlie Curry and James Dale Brasier.

Surviving family members include sons, Eddie Dean Morris (Rose Ann) of West, Travis Gene Morris (Tina) of Palestine, Donald Ray Morris (Lynn) of Magnolia, Charles Timothy Morris of Buffalo, and J.R. Morris (Racheal) of Buffalo; sisters, Linda Park of Waco and Mary "Max" Falteisek of Kerrville; sisters-in-law, Mickey Park of Waco and Marlene Brasier of Corsicana; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and special friends.

Honey Bee Morris will be remembered not only for her many accomplishments but for her unyielding faith, her kind heart, and her infectious laughter. Her life was a testament to the power of love, service, and community.

A celebration of life service honoring Honey Bee will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Calvary Christian Center, Oakwood, Texas, fellowship immediately following. Pastor of the church, Jack Smith, will officiate the service. Mrs. Morris will be laid to rest at 2 P.M. in Sardis Cemetery near Jewett, Texas. A time of visitation and fellowship will take place Monday, January 6, 2025, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
