I worked with Hono at the VA Medical Center. He was a man that was kinder, wiser, and truly gentler, than anyone I have ever met. He loved his family, and deeply loved his wife, Sarah. This world was made a better place because of him. Hono was truly a noble warrior. We all miss you, Hono.

Sincere condolences to the Yacapin and Ammons families. My parents and our family have known Hono and the rest of the family for years. I just saw him at my mother's funeral service in January. RIP, kind sir. Mike Boring and family.

I was honored to serve with Hono Yacapin while stationed in Germany in 1976 and 1977. He was an outstanding NonCommissioned Officer in every aspects of military service; a true professional, extremely knowledgeable, a strong leader, and a well respected mentor to all the junior soldiers in our unit. His advice was often sought by the command´s senior leadership, whether in garrison or on numerous field training exercises. He had a strong work ethic and work tirelessly to complete each and every assignment. I greatly depended on him as my PSNCO, and we would not have enjoyed the success we had without his expertise and dedication. A remarkable soldier and true friend, he served our country honorably and with distinction. May he rest in peace.
