Horace Harrington, a devoted man of faith, family and football, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 9, 1940, in Indian Bayou, Louisiana, Horace lived a life guided by deep convictions and a generous spirit.
A lifelong Catholic, Horace was a faithful attendee of daily Mass at Holy Cross and St. Pius. His unwavering faith was the cornerstone of his life and a legacy he passed on to his family.
Horace shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Gayle Prudhomme Harrington. Together, they built a beautiful family, blessed with four children, 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A passionate athlete, Horace began his football journey at Marion High School in Lake Charles, went on to play for LSU, and finished his last collegiate year at McNeese State University. After earning his degree, he began a fulfilling coaching career-first at Northside High School in Lafayette, then at De La Salle High School in New Orleans and finally at the University of Texas at El Paso. He later transitioned into the oilfield industry, working alongside his former LSU teammate and close friend, Dan Hargett. Horace spent 25 successful years in the oilfield before retiring.
Horace is survived by his two sons, Glenn Harrington and his wife, Tammie, of Lafayette, LA and Craig Harrington and his wife, Lacey, of Baton Rouge, LA; his two daughters, Jill Duhon and her husband, Lonnie, of Maurice, LA and Shelley Harrington, of Lafayette, LA; his brothers, Bobby Harrington and his wife, Rhonda, of Vinton, LA and Larry Harrington and his wife, Marie, of Central, LA; his sister, Eula Dunn, of Moss Bluff, LA; his 10 grandchildren, Devin Picard, Addison and Mallory Harrington, Megan, Madelyn and Landon Duhon, Hunter and Ethan Mowell and Grace and Amelia Harrington; his 3 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Blair Bacque and Christian Harrington and 1 great-great-grandson, Khai Bacque.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gayle Wynn Prudhomme Harrington; his grandson, Christian Scott Harrington; his parents, Edes and Ada Abshire Harrington; his sister, Lucy Barto and two brothers-in-law, Gene Dunn and Jim Barto.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are his great friend, Bill Couvillion; grandsons, Hunter, Ethan, Addison, Landon, and Brooklyn and nephews, Billy Barto and Bobby (T-Bob) Harrington.
Honorary Bearers will be brothers, Bobby and Larry Harrington.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt and sincere thanks to the many friends who enriched Horace's life, especially his neighbors, Bill and Cherry Couvillion, whose love and support over the past 20 years have meant so much to Horace and his family. Deep gratitude also goes to Southern Grace Hospice, Agnes's Loving Care, and all of Horace's doctors and their staff for the exceptional care they provided. Horace's legacy of faith, love and integrity will continue to live on in all who knew him.

Thank you coach for everything. "Your impact on the lives of every one you came into contact with will never be forgotten. Good coaches impact games. Great coaches impact lives. Coach Harrington was a "Great" coach." We will miss you but will never forget you.
