On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Loving husband of his late wife Jean. T Brooks; beloved father of Howard (Gina) Brooks and Miranda Raggio; grandfather of Kenny (Sarah) Brooks and Danny (Rachel) Brooks; great grandfather of William, Oliver, Tyler, Logan, Emilia Benjamin and Madison Brooks, passed away peacefully with his children by his side. Howard was a long-time resident of Beltsville, MD for 65 years, retiring from the USDA Agriculture Research Service as a Branch Chief and working 35 years in pomme fruit research after spending 4 years in the Army as a Lt. Colonel. After retirement Howard enjoyed golf, bowling, poker nights with the guys, traveling to New England where he met Jean and her family, watching Terps basketball and Redskins football, and spending time his family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center, 106 Island Farm Lane, Boyce VA, 22620; 540-837-9000 which Howard supported due to his love of nature and wildlife.
