Howard Gary "Bun" Carte, 88, entered into the presence of our Lord on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in Charleston, WV following a short illness.

He was the son of the late James Roosevelt and Eula Noca (Crist) Carte of Hico, WV.

He is preceded in death by his sweetheart of 59 years, Violet Marie Carte. Brothers: Woodville "Woody" Carte, William "Bill" Carte, Charlie Carte, and Gerald "Jarhead" Carte. Sisters: Marlene "Dot" Carte, Nadine Carte, and Olivine Carte.

Left to cherish his memories are his two sons Greg (Robin) Carte and Dewayne (Jamie) Carte both of Hico, WV. Two grandsons, Caleb (Katie) Carte of Ansted and Collin (Katelyn) Carte of Hico. One great granddaughter and light to his life, Emery Carte. One surviving brother and best friend, Darrell "Cub" Carte of Hico.

Howard was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, serving alongside his wife for many years. He retired from Capitol Fuels and was a proud United States Army Veteran. "Bun" enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing a meal with friends, and raising a beautiful garden, year after year. A gentle soul, and would share a kind smile with anyone. He has been a pillar in the Stringtown community and will be dearly missed.

Services for Howard will be Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 2pm at the Wallace and Wallace funeral chapel in Ansted, WV with Pastor Pat Gray and Pastor Allen Travis officiating. Friends may visit from 1pm until the time of service. Burial will follow at Legg Cemetery in Hico.
