Howard John Hart, 75, died peacefully surrounded by family on September 16, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas. He was born November 29, 1948 in Nashville, Kansas to Harry and Margaret Hart. Howard graduated from Nashville High School, class of 1966. He attended Pratt Community College and later graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State College with a degree in Business. After college, he moved to Salina, Kansas where he met Carol Hagmeier. They married on July 15, 1974 and celebrated their 50Th anniversary this year. They later settled in Topeka where they raised their family. Howard was employed 47 years as a meat cutter for Dillons Grocery Stores. He was a faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and an active member of Knights of Columbus Council 8411, and James W Gibbons Fourth Degree Assembly.
Howard possessed a witty sense of humor and a keen ability to connect with anyone he met. His greatest joy was time with family. He was the ultimate girl dad, and even became an official girl scout so that he could help lead his daughters' troops. Howard also enjoyed spending time hunting, golfing, reading, and theatre.
Howard is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters Melissa (Matthew) Micek, Michele (Justin) Baalmann, and Megan (Jonathan) McComas; grandchildren Kenneth, Abby, Samantha, Ryan, and Anthony Micek, Maggie, Julianna, Logan, and Garrett Baalmann, Gavin McComas; brother, Bruce Hart; and a large extended family.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margaret Hart.
Visitation will be 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Chalice Ceremony and Rosary will follow at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th Street, Topeka KS 66614.
