HOWARD FREDERICK LOWERY, 49, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, March 8, 2024.
A cherished native of Aiken whose life was intertwined with the very essence of his community. He was born to Jan M. Royal and the late John D. Lowery.
A graduate of Aiken High School, Howard's presence in the community was profound. Known affectionately as "Aiken's Ambassador of Music," his passion for melodies and harmonies knew no bounds. Beyond his culinary duties as a sous-chef at The Pub at Cedar Creek, Howard found solace and joy in music. His love for music festivals led him across 33 states, forging friendships and creating memories without ever setting foot on a plane.
Howard's commitment to the musical arts extended beyond his personal endeavors; he generously shared his talents by serving on the board of directors of the Aiken Music Fest. His spirit will resonate in the melodies that grace the festival in years to come.
As we reflect on Howard's journey, let us remember him not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the symphony of his life that enriched our days. In his memory, may we find solace in the harmonies he so dearly loved.
Surviving is his beloved mother, Jan Royal; his sister, Trina Lowery Smith (Hasting); nieces and nephews, Anthony Greenwood, Jr., Ansley Tyler Quiller (Walter), Mariah Smith, Janiya Smith, Messiah Smith, all of Augusta; his uncles and aunts, Dr. H. G Royal (JaneAnne), Aiken, Dr. Charles Lowery (Penny), Frisco, TX, Dr. Fred Lowery (Leigh), Bosier City, TX, Jean Metts (Roy), Colleyville, TX; his best friend, Patrick Donovan (Genevieve) and his beloved rescue dog, Lady. In addition to his father, Howard was preceded in death by his aunt, Sue Townsend.
A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon, March 30th at 3 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Howard’s Life that evening beginning at 6 o’clock at Highfields Event Center.
