Howard Charles McFarland III

Howard Charles "Mac" McFarland, III, of Bloomfield Hills, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Henry Ford Hospital, West Bloomfield, after a lengthy and courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He was born on July 16, 1951, in Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Charles McFarland Jr. and Jeanne Dorothy Hess Lovinggood.
Howard attended Wayne Memorial High School and earned his degree as a Certified Public Accountant from Michigan State University. He enjoyed his career in the financial field, serving in various roles for his clients.
Howard was passionate about many things: great food, fine wine, a good book and traveling- and most of all, cheering on his daughter Lauren, in whatever sport, event, or concert she was involved with.
He made friends everywhere he went and never forgot a birthday. Howard loved to cook and had perfected his recipe for BBQ ribs that were always served on the 4th of July. Christmas was his favorite holiday, starting with finding the perfect tree, decorating it beautifully, creating perfectly wrapped packages and preparing a complete Christmas feast, with a menu from Gourmet Magazine.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Lauren; brother, William (Jeannine Tissington); sister, Deb (Mel) Cline, and their children and Howard's nephew and niece, Matthew and Kelly; and his loyal and loving dog, Piper.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Howard's life will be at a later date.
