Loucks Funeral HomeHoward James "Jimmy" Pickell, aged 80, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Greenfield Park, NY. Born on April 8, 1945, in Trenton, NJ, Jimmy was known for his larger-than-life personality, embodying traits of generosity, kindness, and a profound dedication to his family.
A proud veteran, Jimmy served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969, where he was a member of the 1st Cavalry and the 30th Artillery in Vietnam. His commitment to service continued throughout his life, impacting those around him deeply.
Professionally, Jimmy dedicated many years to Channel Master and Con Edison, where his work ethic and vibrant character left a lasting impression on his colleagues.
Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for golf, hunting, and fishing. He was involved with Tee Ball, Little League, and Scouts. His hobbies also included woodworking, expert bird feeding, and meticulously maintaining his lawn and garden. His love for animals shone brightly through his cherished dogs and birds, creating a warm, loving home environment.
He is survived by his wife, Nordeen Pickell; sons, Brian Pickell and his wife Lily, Vincent Pickell, and Keith Pickell and his wife Staci; sister, Catherine; grandsons, Koltin and Wyatt Pickell; and his loyal dog, Mickey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Gertrude Pickell.
Visitation will be held at Loucks Funeral Home 79 N. Main St. Ellenville NY, on Sunday, March 1st from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will take place at the same location on Monday, March 2nd at 11 AM. Burial will take place with military honors at the Fantinekill Cemetery 8068 Route 209 N. Ellenville, NY
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, or American Heart Association, honoring Jimmy's spirit of giving and support for causes close to his heart.
