Howard Richard Reed, 87, of Rose Hill, KS, passed away Sunday, June 30, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita.
He was born in Waynesville, MO, but spent his young years near Burr Oak, KS. He met his wife, Barbara McCorkle in high school and they celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Howard worked for 43 years for Beech Aircraft and Raytheon. In retirement he volunteered for Cowtown, Salvation Army, and his church.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, his son Andy (Diane), daughters Diana (Jeff Giles) and Lisa (Gerald Thimmesch); four grandsons Brad and Zack Thimmesch, Jake Giles, and AJ Reed; great-grandchildren Matthew, Carly and Grant Thimmesch gave him great pleasure. His many nieces and nephews were an important part of his life.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Richard and Millie Reed; six brothers Frances, Adna, Jack, Don, Bob, and Junior; four sisters Aletha Logan, Daisy Jensen, Fern Pair, and Barbara White.
Services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 30, at the Rose Hill United Methodist Church, Rose Hill, KS. Casual dress is requested.
A memorial has been established with the church.
