Howard Gene Smith, 88, of Weatherford passed away Friday, November 20, 2020, in a Fort Worth hospital. He was born July 22, 1932, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Emerson and Blanche Goad Smith. Howard was a talented home builder, enjoyed working outside and loved working on old cars. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and all his grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Smith, in 1990.
Howard leaves behind his devoted wife of 69 years, Joy Smith of Weatherford; daughters, Trixie Smith of Weatherford, Julie Smith of Millsap, and Kristi Smith and husband, Noal of San Angelo; grandchildren, Janette Smith, Michael Burleson, Stephanie Blew, Amanda Simpson, Michael Barnes, Brandee Pemberton, and Hunter Smith; sister, Barbara Ann Gaston; as well as numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2020, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 23, 2020, at Rose Hill Cemetery, in Merkel, Texas.
