COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Hubert Arnold Copeland, a beloved resident of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 15, 2025, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 30, 1943, in Cookeville, where he spent the majority of his life, establishing deep roots in the community.
A dedicated professional, Hubert had a notable career at Flowers Direct in Cookeville, where he contributed his talents and formed lasting relationships with colleagues and customers alike. Known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to service, Hubert made a significant impact on those around him both personally and professionally.
Hubert was a man of diverse interests and passions. He enjoyed engaging in gospel music, frequently serving as a song leader. He was in many gospel groups through the years. In fact, he and his wife Dean met singing in a gospel group. Additionally, he found joy in playing golf, bowling, and participating in games of chess and checkers. A fervent participant in political debates, Hubert was known for his spirited discussions and insightful perspectives.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Claradean McCowan Copeland, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Hubert was a proud father to two daughters, Karen (Farrell) Cox of Cookeville, TN, and Monica (Mike) Bonner of Morrison, TN. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Courtney (Adam) Rose, Kristen (Korben) Hagan, Adam Cox, Erica (Warren) Leslie, Stacey (Marty) Lester, Taylor Reed, and Courtney (Brent) Hutchison. Hubert cherished his role as a great-grandfather to Marley, Makenzie, Davy, Naomi, Lyla, Bryton, Madison, Cameron, Rylan, Adrian, Lana Jo, Kyler, Audrey, Kason, Rhett, and Silas.
Hubert is also survived by his sister, Ruth Arney. He was blessed to be part of large family including many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, John Morgan Copeland and Deama Thomas Copeland, along with his sisters Emolene Copeland, Emogene Randolph, Margaret Knight, Lois Copeland, and Mary Sue Allen, and brothers Robert Houston Copeland and Ernest Junior Copeland. Their memories remain an integral part of his life story.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025 at The Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Nolan Cantrell and Bro. Derek Copeland officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Inurnment will take place privately at a later date at Judd Cemetery.
