Hubert Douglas “Doug” Mears, age 81, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on November 15, 1942 to parents William and Lillian, both of whom preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his brother, Kim Mears, and sisters Sharon Mears and Judy Drennon. He is survived by his wife Linda of 38 years, who was the love of his life. He is also survived by his children, Timothy Mears of Manchester, Tn, Christopher (Shayna) Mears of Westland, MI, Summer (Justin) Bradley of Portland, TN, Paul (Jill) Maxey of Harrison Township, MI and Christie (Tim) Page of Mt. Juliet, TN and his nine grandchildren, Ashley, Melanie, Emily, Haley, Collin, Andrew, Carlee, Noah, and Brady. Doug worked in management for General Motors from 1962 until his retirement in 2001. He loved music, and was an avid sports fanatic. He took pride in having an immaculate yard and thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with family and solving Sudoku puzzles. One of his favorite pastimes was chatting with his long time friends at General Tire in Gallatin. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and was always cracking jokes and making people laugh. Everyone who knew Doug loved him greatly and he will be dearly missed. Visitation will be at Crestview Funeral Home in Gallatin, TN. Wednesday April 17th from 1-8 pm, and Thursday April 18th from 12 pm until the time of service at 3pm. Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens.
