Hugh Brady Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riverdale-On-Hudson Funeral Home Inc on Mar. 2, 2026.
Hugh Patrick Brady, better known to most as "Bob," passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in his beloved Bronx, NY.

Bob was born on December 6, 1945, in the Bronx to Hugh and Gretta Brady. He was the youngest of four children, Tom (Liz), Betty (Sam) Ekizian, and Geraldine (Donald) Sweeney. He married the love of his life, Katheleen "Kay" Foley, on June 7, 1975. Bob was a beloved husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle to many nieces and nephews, and even a "great" uncle to many others, and a wonderful friend.

Bob served his country with distinction in the United States Army (1968-1974), earning himself a Bronze Star amongst other awards for his efforts in Vietnam.

A graduate from All Hallows High School, Bob went on to earn a Master's Degree from St. John's University. Upon graduating, he worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement.

Bob had a great smile, was kind to everyone, and was always quick with a joke. He and Kay had many friends, and loved to have a good time. They especially enjoyed their days at the Jersey shore. They loved quieter times too, including walks at Van Cortlandt Park and dinner at the Riverdale Steak House.

Bob loved the United States of America, the Jets, his parish at St. John's, and the American Legion where he belonged for many years. A proud but humble veteran, a beloved brother and uncle and friend, and a loving husband to his Katie. They are together again.

Reposing will be held on Wednesday, March 4th, at Riverdale on the Hudson Funeral Home, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Church at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 5th. Internment will be at Gates of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paws for Purple Hearts.
