Services for Bro. Hugh Davis Jr. will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., at Pentecostal Church of Jesus in Meridian. Visitation will be Monday, March 17th from 5 - 8 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home North. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
Pastor Hugh Craven Davis Jr. (Tater) went to be with Jesus on March 11, 2025, at age 82. Bro. Davis was Born on January 14, 1943, in Meridian, Mississippi, he was the eldest of five siblings.
He served in the U.S. Army Honor Guard, was a Lieutenant with the Meridian Fire Department, and retired as a Mississippi Game Warden. His greatest calling was serving God—as a missionary to Belarus, pastor of First Pentecostal Church of Laurel since 2012, and a UPCI minister for over 25 years. He was a dedicated member of Abundant Life Tabernacle and Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Meridian.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Davis; daughter, Danielle Davis; adopted daughter, Molly Crosby; adopted son, James Deviney; brothers, Ed “Ollie” Davis and Raymond “Rai” Davis; six nieces; seven nephews; three adopted grandchildren—Victoria (Apo) Çolak, Jason Barksdale, Anthony Deviney; two adopted great-grandchildren—Ferah Çolak and Jacob Barksdale; and a host of cherished family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh C. Davis Sr. and Viva Edna Davis; sister Mary Ann Davis; and brother Marcus “Marc” Davis
