Humberto G. Sierra, a cherished and respected member of the San Antonio community, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on February 21, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to Frances and Edmundo Sierra, Humberto's life was one of dedication, service, and profound love for his family and country.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Humberto served his nation with honor and distinction. His unwavering commitment to his country was matched only by his deep Christian faith, which guided him throughout his life and provided comfort and strength to those around him.
Humberto was a loving husband to his late wife, Mercedes L. Sierra, and together they built a life filled with joy and purpose. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Edmundo Sierra, his son, Ruben Bert Sierra, and his brothers, Jesse Sierra and Roy Sierra. His legacy continues through his surviving children, Norma (Mario) Sierra, James (Norma) Sierra, and Maria (John) Moya. Humberto was a doting grandfather to Theresa, Cristian, Madelin, John Jr., Bianca, and Aj, and he was blessed to know his two great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy in his later years.
An avid outdoorsman, Humberto found solace and excitement in hunting, a pastime that allowed him to connect with nature and share his passion with friends and family. He was also a devoted sports fan, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs with fervor and loyalty. Humberto's love for his home teams was infectious, and he enjoyed many games surrounded by loved ones.
Humberto's skills extended beyond the field and into the home, where he was known for his knack for home improvements. He could often be found working on a project, always eager to lend a hand and share his knowledge. His children and grandchildren will remember him as a wonderful father and grandfather, whose wisdom and generosity knew no bounds.
Described by those who knew him as loving, wise, and generous, Humberto's impact on his community and family was profound. His guidance, warmth, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we bid farewell to Humberto G. Sierra, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, service, and the joy of family. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those he touched. Humberto's journey on this earth has ended, but his spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
