Hurley Eugene Crews, Sr., passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the age of 97 years, 5 months and 28 days.
Mr. Crews was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Eloise Cope Crews, his son Hurley Crews, Jr., and his granddaughter Suzanne Zalimeni.
He is survived by his son, Ketih Crews of The Woodlands, Texas, his granddaughter, Emily Crews of The Woodlands, Texas, and his great-granddaughter Kaylee Gates of Theodore, Alabama.
Mr. Crews was a member of Creekwood Church of Christ and had previously served as an elder at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ from the late 60's throughout the 1970's. Mr. Crews was a Bible teacher, a deacon, an elder, and an all around Christian man worthy of great respect. Mr. Crews came to Mobile in 1960 as branch manager of Dictaphone Corporate, and later was an account executive with Xerox Corporation until retirement at age 71. He then became an independent agent for Xerox, fully retiring at age 83. He was an active member of Rotary Club of Mobile for many years, a Rotary Fellow, and was involved in the establishment of the Rotary Rehabilitation Center at Mobile Infirmary. Mr. Crews held a private pilots license from the late 70's until about 10 years ago and at one time was President of Mobile Aero Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating, flying and activities with family and church friends.
Funeral will be at Creekwood Church of Christ on Friday, January 24, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
