Hyman Murray Weinstein September 10, 1947 – August 16, 2025
Hyman Murray Weinstein was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. He reveled in rehashing memories of his childhood, his love of fishing with his father, and his visits to family in Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
He graduated from Fortier High School in New Orleans.
He was a lifelong technology enthusiast whose career followed the rise of personal computing.
He worked with early UNIX and Xenix computer systems in the years before home computers were common, taking part in the emerging world of programming and data systems that would later become everyday technology.
He held a variety of roles in nascent areas of tech throughout the 1980s and 1990s - including a time with Radio Shack in the early days of Tandy PCs.
For the last 30 years of his career, he worked for MI Drilling Fluids, a Schlumberger company, first in New Orleans and then in Houma, Louisiana.
In 2020, he moved to Clarksdale, Mississippi to be near his family. Here he embraced small town life, enjoying his retirement and becoming a familiar face in the downtown community of artists and musicians. He loved live music and here he could be around it daily.
He will be missed by many for his unique humor and style. A true character that left an impression on those he interacted with.
He is survived by his son Robert Weinstein, his daughter in law Lucia Konakova Weinstein and his grandson, whom he loved dearly, Robert Konak Weinstein. Also, by his former wife Gerlie Weinstein. Finally, he is survived by his four brothers Brent, Pini, Gerry, and Barry, and his sister Judy Weinstein Reuther. He has gone to meet his father and mother in heaven, Robert Weinstein and Eula Rook Weston Weinstein.
He is laid to rest at Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksdale, Mississippi. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Hyman Murray Weinstein, please visit our Tree Store.
