Ida Kats lived her life with style and spirit. A woman of elegance and warmth with just the right amount of sass, she wore many titles throughout her 92 years-soulful classical cellist, devoted teacher, loyal friend, loving mother, proud grandmother, and perhaps most joyfully, a professional-level grand-doggy spoiler. If you knew Ida, you knew you were going to be cared for (i.e., fed!). Her love language included poppy seed cakes, handmade quilts, long conversations, and gifts "just because." A visit to her home was never complete without a plate of something delicious, a chat full of both wisdom and wit, and likely a plant cutting or food to take with you. Ida had a true zest for life. With her suitcases packed at a perpetual "ready" mode, she traveled the world by sea and land. At home, her garden and beloved houseplants flourished under her care, taking over her (and her neighbors') yards. She had a deep appreciation for a quality handbag, a nice pair of heels on sale, and (preferably) a sequined dress. She is survived by her daughter, Marina Clark; son-in-law, Scott Clark; granddaughter, Darcy Amnuel; cousin, who was more like a sister, Ester Greyzdorf; and niece, Carmela O'Flaherty. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mozus Kats. A life lived fully, stylishly, and always in service to others. May her memory continue to bloom in all of us. Funeral service 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 4th at Hodroff-Epstein Memorial Chapels, 126 E. Franklin Ave., Minneapolis. Funeral is available on zoom: www.hodroffs.com/IdaKats (direct link below).

My mom (Jan Rubenstein) and I have so many wonderful memories of Ida. Although we sadly lost touch these last years, and moved to North Carolina:our lives were improved when Ida and Mozus moved to Minneapolis and they became a part of our family. Please accept our condolences. May Ida´s memory be for a blessing and May her soul be bound up in the bonds of everlasting life.
