Ida Jo Price, a beloved sister and friend, passed away peacefully on 3-31-2025 at the age of 75 in Bessemer AL. She was born on 3-30-1950 in Gadsden, AL. Ida was a very caring person who loved her family and animals (all of them). Ida was the first daughter of Hugh and Josephine Willis both from Hueytown, AL.
Ida graduated from Jacksonville State University where she received her masters degree in education. She then went on to further her education at UAB. She became a great teacher, coach and principal at a number of schools in the area, lastly Bessemer Academy. After her work in education, she joined the Social Security Administration where she spent the last 37 years. She work hard and made a lot of friends at SSA who will truly miss her.
She is survived by her sister, Deborah Fendley and brother in law, Russell Gulley. Also by a young man that came into her life that she called "son" Blake Fitzsimmons. She touched so many lives and was loved by her family, friends, students and co-workers alike.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 12:00 until 1:00 PM in the chapel of Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home with service to follow. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home is honored to serve the Price family during their time of bereavement. Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.pattersonfuneralhomes.com.
